Facts About Pediatric Cancer

• More people in low resource countries will die from cancer than TB, Malaria and HIV combined. 
   

• An estimated 14 million people will be diagnoses with cancer this year, with over 260,000 cases occurring in children.
   

• By 2030, the global burden is expected to grow to 21.4 million new cancer cases and 13.2 million cancer deaths simply due to the growth and aging of the population, as well as reductions in childhood mortality and deaths from infectious diseases in developing countries.
   

• Pediatric cancers today are highly treatable with survival rates of >85% in the US for all pediatric cancers, but it remains <10% in many low resource countries.
   

• Most children with malignancies in low resource countries will die due to limited access to medical care and high cost of therapy.
